structures beyond the visible Universe

Visual Artist | Doctor of Fine Art | Academic Teacher | Art Curator
"I was born with an inherently curious mind. Embracing this path has led me to extraordinary places and into the presence of remarkable people. I have always experienced the world through a singular lens: maintaining a stance of total openness and shedding all preconceptions to perceive reality as if for the very first time—with a profound sense of wonder. To me, this world—from the infinitesimal to the infinite, from the mundane to the majestic—is a place of immense beauty. My painting is an attempt to translate that very sensation; I paint to capture the wonder of existence, inviting others to resonate with the same awe."
The artwork of Katrina Sadrak operates at the intersection of science and metaphysics, rationality and intuition, cosmic imaging and spiritual experience. Her painting is not abstraction, though it avoids literal forms, nor is it representation, though it perpetually evokes the visible world. It is an art that exists in-between—in the very space where meaning is born.
The central axis of her painterly inquiry is the phenomenon of multiscalarity. The same forms may be interpreted as nebulae or cellular colonies, as cosmic filaments or organic microstructures. It is precisely this fluidity of scale that renders Sadrak's canvases visual equivalents of a world-view—a system of interconnected phenomena where the part reflects the whole.
A "hidden mathematicality" permeates her images—structures that organize compositions like an invisible algorithm of nature. This manifests in a characteristic horror vacui:
a density, a pulsation, an energy, and a multiplication of form. Shapes grow, swirl, and interpenetrate, creating a rhythm reminiscent of the dance of elementary particles. Illusionistic bubbles, "drop-worlds," become signs of infinity—miniature galaxies suspended in a single moment of painterly time.
Sadrak does not merely illustrate science; she processes it—much like one processes their own existential contact with the world.
Her paintings arise from an awe for the structure of reality, a fascination with both the cosmological and the microscopic. From that which is invisible, she constructs a unique painterly language.
In Sadrak’s work, the traditions of West and East converge with the advancements of contemporary astrophysics and the experience of meditation. Her paintings are not only a journey through the layers of nature but also a path toward the Absolute—toward what Pascal described as the "infinite space that encompasses me." It is for this reason that her art, while deeply rooted in science, opens a vast space for spiritual experience. The viewer becomes
a participant in the process: discovering, searching, and resonating.
The painting of Katrina Sadrak is not so much a description of the world as it is its metaphor—a living, pulsating field of energy in which one can hear the echo of their own questions regarding humanity’s place in the cosmos.

The Universe, Space and it's content...
“Katrina Sadrak does not copy an existing phenomena or objects but she calls into existence her own world; demonstrating it's duality: metaphysical and material."'

"I paint in oils and my work is heavily influenced by my relationship with the medium. The paintings arise organically and appear through subtle layers of paint that are applied and partially removed over a surface. The textured, layered, forms and figures produce images that appear to have been uncovered - discovered. An opportunity for the discovery is constantly exciting and is one of the main reasons why I do what I do."
